Silloth Music & Beer Festival

Silloth Green, Silloth-On-Solway, Cumbria. Thursday 9th to Sunday 12th September 2010

The Silloth Music And Beer Festival celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2010. This year the renowned event will be truly pushing the boat out to present a formidable selection of between 75 and 100 real ales and ciders and an absolutely top class selection of entertainment over the four days.

Taking place from Thursday the 9th of September until the evening of Sunday 12th and held under cover  in a spacious marquee on the picturesque Silloth Green, The Silloth Music And Beer Festival has managed to attract some of the UK's finest tribute acts,  all guaranteed crowd pleasers who all produce the nearest possible recreation to the ‘real thing'. On top of that a host of the best of the burgeoning local music scene also appear over the weekend.

Headlining musical acts  are The Rollin' Clones, the UK's most highly regarded Rolling Stones tribute act, who recreate the musical magic of one of the UK's institutions from ‘(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction' through ‘Brown Sugar', ‘Time Is On My Side', ‘Paint It Black' and ‘Sympathy For The Devil' to ‘Miss You'. Classic Clapton, also appear, the superb Eric Clapton tribute band who celebrate their 25th anniversary together this year, as well as revisiting all Clapton's solo material they also take a trip back in time to the days of  Derek And The Dominoes, Cream, Yardbirds and John Mayall's Bluebreakers.

Bringing things bang up to date and  also headlining are Kings Of Lyon, a band the hugely respected entertainment industry magazine The Stage described as ‘the number-one tribute to The Kings Of Leon'.

Other acts guaranteed to raise the roof and serve as the perfect accompaniment to the real ale and cider treats on offer include quite possibly the UK's most authentic and best home-grown purveyors of Cajun and zydeco music Elvis Fontenot & the Sugar Bees. Their own music, which they describe as swamp'n'roll is a hot and infectious blend of Cajun and zydeco spiced with elements of blues and soul. Also appearing are Hertfordshire based five-piece indie-rock act The Pins, who Britain's most widely read music magazine The Fly described as ‘a band to watch'.

Plus for those wanting to relive those heady days of the 70s, Friday evening will host The Abba Show and 70s disco show.

As ever at The Silloth Music And Beer Festival there will be a plethora of local talent including popular Silloth band Rigsby, Maryport based acoustic duo The Two-ers, Wigton's own riff rocking metallers Mass Defect, AWOL, the three-piece Maryport based purveyors of classic blues tinged rock, Carlisle four piece pop-rockers Last Man Standing and the new breed represented in teenage bands The Alleys, from Carlisle and Retribution from Wigton.
